We are hosting our first ever canine blood donor clinic for the Canadian Animal Blood Bank! For your dog to be a donor you must meet several criteria. We can accept 12 to 20 donors at any given event and hope to have these several times a year. Donation can take 2-6 minutes on average and your entire appointment usually is 15 minutes.

(The veterinary clinic will not be billed for the blood product) Donation Criteria: 1. Pets must be at least 55 lbs (25 kg) 2. Pets must be up to date on their vaccinations (DAPP and Rabies) 3. Pets must be 1 to 8 years of age 4. Pets cannot have donated in the last 60 days 5. Pets MUST have a good temperment - while sedation can be provided it is often not necessary Donation Exclusions: *Pets with bleeding disorders, cancer, kidney disease, liver disease, dental disesase/infection, diabetes, epilepsy, poor skin condition, and heart disease are ineligible to donate *Pets on various medications may require a withdrawl period prior to dontation (we have a list at the clinic) Please call the clinic at 519-290-9400 to book your spot! When you call we will go over some additional criteria to ensure your dog qualifies. Thank you for your support and for helping other dogs! **If your animal does not qualify for donation, you can get your animals blood type determined in case of an emergency. Cost is $50 per pet and results are available immediately. These tests can be performed at any time at our hospital alongside an appointment but will not be conducted at the blood donor clinic for non donors.

Microchips are implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades and provide a permanent source of identification for your pet. Microchips are $30 cash and all proceeds go directly to the Oxford County Animal Rescue. There are no additional fees or annual fees to keep your microchip current. You do not need to be a client of the clinic to attend, however we would appreciate that all pets are up to date on their vaccinations, especially rabies. Cats and Dogs welcome of any age or size. No appointments necessary, walk ins only Due to popular demand, we are once again partnering with Oxford County Animal Rescue and offering a microchip clinic!
When: Saturday April 11th from 12:00p to 3:00p Where: 570 Ingersoll Ave at Oxford County Veterinary Clinic How much: $30 per pet, cash only Details: Microchips will be inserted by Oxford County Veterinary Clinic staff. Microchips will be first come first serve. All proceeds will be donated back to Oxford County Animal Rescue. We ask that all dogs that are dog aggressive have an owner register prior to bringing the animals into the clinic so that they can be placed into rooms safely. Similarly, cats who are stressed easily will be accommodated to the best of our ability and thus we ask that you advise our staff should your animal require special handling. |
